To follow up yesterday’s 5k run, this evening was my first pool swim aimed at increasing the distance significantly from previous sessions, which had been focusing on speed due to my county swims being over a short 50m distance.
The session, which took just over an hour, comprised of the following:
- 200m easy front crawl to warm up
- 600m f/c, rest
- 400m f/c
- 100m breaststroke recovery
- 600m f/c, rest
- 400m f/c
- 100m breaststroke recovery
- 600m f/c, rest
- 400m f/c
- 100m breaststroke recovery
- 50m backstroke swim down
For a total of 3.55km or 142 lengths. Not bad considering previous sessions had been around 1.5km.
